What it will look like if China launches cyberattacks in the U.S.

Abstract:

This article discusses the possibility of numerous cyber attacks from China on the United States following a Chinese invasion of Taiwan. The US intelligence community believes that a Chinese attack would be two pronged: an invasion of Taiwan and cyber attacks on the United States. These cyber attacks would likely be targeting critical U.S. systems like military transport facilities and civilian services and infrastructure. U.S. President Biden has promised US troops to Taiwan in the case of a Chinese invasion, so toppling these transport facilities would be important to China. Similarly, in targeting US energy and water grids, which could decrease support from the American people of Taiwan. The article ends by concluding that the United States needs to work to increase its cyber defenses in these key areas to mitigate the impact of a Chinese attack.
