US mulls establishing a full fledged Cyber Force to counter China, Russia, Iran and North Korea

Abstract:

The United States is considering the creation of a dedicated cyber force to combat the growing cyber threat posed by China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. The proposed cyber force would be responsible for defending American interests in cyberspace and would have the capability to conduct offensive operations against these countries if necessary. The creation of a cyber force came about as the Biden administration identified cyber security as a top national security concern, due to recent high-profile attacks highlighting the vulnerability of critical infrastructure and supply chains. However, the creation of a new cyber force raises questions about the division of responsibilities between existing agencies and the potential duplication of efforts.
