Sweden Tests Cyber Defenses as War and NATO Bid Raise Security Risks

Abstract: 

The article reports that Sweden is conducting a large-scale cyber defense exercise aimed at testing the country's ability to defend against a simulated cyber attack against internet infrastructure. While cyberattack scenarios relating to the Russia-Ukraine war were not employed, it was clear that it loomed large on the minds of the participants. The move comes amid growing concerns about national security threats that will necessarily rise as Finland's NATO membership bid gathers momentum. Since the war, the Swedish army has been interfacing more frequently with the corporate world about cybersecurity than before the war. Sweden reactivated its military draft system in 2018 after suspending it in 2010, and "started training conscripts in cyber defense in 2020.
