A Roadmap to Better Cybersecurity

Abstract:

The cybersecurity capabilities and infrastructure of the U.S. is severely lacking, and this problem permeates through public and private entities. Entities are incredibly open to attacks, and indeed do face attacks all the time. And, furthermore, when they are attacked, the responses are slow and inadequate - often times acting only as a temporary bandaid until the next attack happens. Overcoming these problems will require a drastic rework of how the U.S. approaches cybersecurity - everything from redefining what we define as "adequate" cybersecurity to having the government provide financial and technical support for preventative and reactionary cybersecurity measures.
