Mexico is one of the top victims of cyberattacks in Latin America

Abstract:

Mexico is one of the top victims of cyberattacks in the world, according to a recent study. The study, conducted by a cybersecurity company, found that Mexico ranks fifth globally in the number of cyberattacks, with an average of 5.3 million attacks per day. The most common types of attacks include phishing, malware, and ransomware, which can have significant impacts on businesses, individuals, and the overall economy. Cyber attacks have targeted parts of the government including the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport, and the Defense Ministry. The study also highlights the need for greater awareness and investment in cybersecurity measures to protect against these threats. The Mexican government has recognized the importance of addressing the issue and has developed a national cybersecurity strategy to improve its cybersecurity capabilities and address the growing threat of cybercrime. The strategy includes measures to increase cybersecurity awareness, enhance information sharing, and strengthen the country's legal and institutional framework for addressing cybercrime. However, there is still much work to be done to address the significant cybersecurity challenges facing Mexico and to ensure the country is better protected against cyber threats.
