FACT SHEET: Biden-⁠Harris Administration Announces National Cybersecurity Strategy

Abstract: 

On March 2, 2023, the Biden-Harris Administration released the National Cybersecurity Strategy. The strategy lays out a path to address the current complex threat environment and continue developing towards a digital future. To secure this future, the strategy includes increasing incentives for long-term investments and shifting the responsibility to defend cyberspace towards specialized organizations, which reduces burden for smaller businesses and local governments. The strategy envisions the digital ecosystem as one that is defensible, resilient to cyber incidents, and value-aligned. Five pillars to achieve these goals are outlined. The pillars are: defending critical infrastructure, disrupting threat actors, increasing security the the market, investing in a resilient future, and forging international partnerships. Collaboration is emphasized throughout the strategy, as these goals are shared across many countries, businesses, and stakeholders.
