Drones for smart cities: Issues in cybersecurity, privacy, and public safety

Abstract:

For every new technology or system that is produced, there is the both the ability to use it for the betterment of society or mal-intent. One of these emerging technologies are drones. Such are presently projected to have an impact on every aspect of our everyday lives. This ranges from the delivery of goods to advanced surveillance methodologies. As a result, this brings about a number of challenges that will need to be addressed. These areas include cybersecurity, privacy, and public safety. As it pertains to cybersecurity, a number of drones are controlled via WiFi networks in which are vulnerable to attack. Going forward, it is important to consider the implications that drones will have when it comes to such being used as a vector for cyberattacks.
