This article discusses China’s cyber attacks on Taiwan surrounding the time period of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit. It begins by discussing these attacks, and while these attacks were low in effect, highlighted the flaws in Taiwan’s cyber defenses. The article then goes on to discuss how China has been spreading misinformation in Taiwan through hacking. Chinese state actors, posing as Chinese citizens, hack onto Taiwan's social media platforms. These actors then work to build trust with Taiwanese citizens and begin to spread disinformation to push China’s agenda. While these disinformation campaigns are successful, China does have the capability to launch large-scale cyber attacks on Taiwan, as shown during Peosoi’s visit.
