Web Tracking Domain and Possible Privacy Defending Tools: A Literature Review

Abstract:

In today’s digital age, browsing the internet goes beyond mere exploration—it’s like revealing fragments of your life with every click. From your preferences to where you’ve been and even your most personal details like health status, nothing is completely anonymous. This widespread data collection, known as web tracking, poses a serious threat to online privacy. Websites are quick to jump on this data train, using tracking tools to tailor everything from services to ads. But what most concerns experts is how often this data ends up being sold off without a person’s consent, essentially putting individual privacy at risk. Despite the growing concern, researchers are still struggling to find simple, effective ways to protect online privacy. So, this research delves into the world of web tracking and privacy defense methods. These issues, how tracking works, and what tools are out there to assist with these ends will be explored in great detail. Ultimately, the goal of this paper is to come away with a better understanding of how to keep our online lives private in this digital age.
