Understanding Cyber Terrorism from Motivational Perspectives

Abstract:

The research examines cyber-terrorism by analyzing the reasons and moviations of cyber-terrorism acts being committed. As the article points out, the lack of a clear, universal definition of cyber-terrorism remains a challenge to the resarch, regulation and legislation on cyberspace. An investigation of the motivations on committing cyberattack may provide understanding on cybercrime. Employing a qualitative method to analyze data by making data collection through semi-structured interview with purposely sampling, the research concludes that motivational forces behind cyber-terrorism are various, including social, political, economic and/or ideological aspects.
