Searching for inclusive artificial intelligence for social good: Participatory governance and policy recommendations for making AI more inclusive and benign for society
The article evaluates the potential of participatory governance as a potential governance mechanism to incorporate various stakeholders with diversity of interests, upholding both inclusiveness and social good. The importance of AI for social good is highlighted in the discussion of positive case studies of AI used for social good. The article problematizes the lack of inclusiveness in the workplace of AI development and in data. Furthermore, the lack of inclusiveness in the policy making process is underscored. The author ultimately claims that participatory governance is a viable option for governance of AI and promotes the use of AI to support social good.
