Russian hacker group Evil Corp targets US workers at home

Abstract:

The article discusses new non-state actors in the cyber domain. Current warfare is more complicated and often require the use of proxies by state actors so that states can have plausible deniability. This in turn makes space for a backstage war between states via proxies. Some examples of proxies in the conventional warfare are Hezbollah in Lebanon (Iran’s proxy) or Donbas rebels (Russia’s proxy). The article gives an example of proxy actors in the cyber space. In particular, U.S. has been the target of a number of attacks by Evil Corp who is linked to Russia’s security forces according to analysts.
