RUSSIAN DISINFORMATION: FROM COLD WAR TO KANYE

Abstract:

It is possible to describe the threat to the National Security of the state in a three-dimensional space with a physical domain, cyber domain and natural domain. In the cyber domain, one security aspect is maintaining the public trust in governmental institutions. Once being restricted to a smaller audience and mostly found in newspapers, now it is very easy for propaganda to have an enormous audience and have the audience spread it around. This series of videos shows examples of how Russia used disinformation in United States to undermine trust in the institutions, continuing the tradition of Soviet Union but getting better at it because of new capabilities in cyberspace.
