Managing data lakes in the big data era: What’s a data lake and why has it became popular in data management ecosystem

Abstract:

Data lakes are large amassed troves of data, typically of different formats collected from a variety of sources. Although data lakes allow for big data analysis, they also have many drawbacks. This paper discusses the structure of a data lake, advantages & disadvantages, deployment and recommendations for how data lakes should be implemented into existing corporate structures.
