INNOVATIONS IN GLOBAL GOVERNANCE: TOWARD A DISTRIBUTED INTERNET GOVERNANCE ECOSYSTEM

Abstract:

As the Internet grows to be a larger and larger part of our everyday lives, we need to determine how the regulations of cyberspace are handled on a global scale. This paper talks about the importance of having a distributed governance structure where all of the stakeholders are held responsible and accountable, and are expected to work with each other freely and openly – as opposed to the current system which has a couple of primary actors with lots of contentious relationships between them. This would promote a much stronger, safer, and more efficient Internet that would benefit all of the parties, and hopefully reduce overall conflict.
