Real-time, human-based collective intelligence platforms create a new method for groups to make decisions and resolve dilemmas. The platform operates on the principle of “swarm” intelligence – the collective behavior of decentralized, self-organized systems, natural or artificial. The group converges to a “best answer” through the aggregate knowledge and a feedback system, which may be optimal compared to polling or unilateral decision making. When applied to sustainability, it allows for self-organized ruling and decision-making, that ultimately better internalizes all group interests’ (economics, environment, development, etc.), and potentially better responses than indirect methods like the market.
