How Hackers and Spies Could Sabotage the Coronavirus Fight

Abstract:

Social media disinformation isn’t the only threat facing the U.S. when dealing with dealing with COVID-19. Combinations of physical and cyber attacks on low level hospitals with weak security systems exposes important patient data. A breach in a lower level health organization could expose other hospitals who trust other hospitals when receiving and sending information. This article cites several studies and examples of bad actors hacking hospital infrastructure as well as the Department of Homeland Security’s system. The pandemic has exposed some of the vulnerabilities that exist in the current health care system.
