A Glimpse into the Future of Cybersecurity
The world is rapidly becoming more digitized, from social interactions to business to entertainment. Since this growth is likely to not slow down in the future, what can we learn from the current virtual landscape (data protection, privacy laws in Europe, etc.) to predict how cyber attacks and cybersecurity will evolve into the future?
While Microsoft invests billions of dollars into cybersecurity, they are still at risk of having their consumers’ information being compromised. However, this is inevitable, and what matters in the long run is the follow-up response in the aftermath of an attack. Alongside that, consumers have not received any government support for cybersecurity until recently, but the introductions of government regulations imply huge boons for cybersecurity.
In the future, unfilled jobs in the cybersecurity space could be filled by AI technology and could encourage more jobs to maintain those AI. However, the complexity of such AI could prove difficult for corporations to adapt to. Good cybersecurity also relies on physical components such as a phone or other details.
The evolution of the cyberspace should mirror the evolution of society, where the cyberspace is a place of little regulation and oversight. In the future, law enforcement should catch up to the sprawling vastness of the internet.
