Getting Ready for Post-Quantum Cryptography

Abstract:

Classical cryptography is used to secure data and communication in both the public and private sectors. The introduction of quantum cryptography renders most classical systems obsolete. This paper focuses on how quantum cryptography may impact the classical systems used today, discussing the options and challenges associated with a post-quantum world. The paper concludes with planning requirements moving forward with quantum cryptography in mind, as well as the NIST’s suggested next steps.
