While the internet can be a convenient and useful tool, many do not realize the risks/downsides of it being so open and widely available. This paper analyzes the results of surveying 290 students at Bulacan State University, finding that while the majority of students think that cybersecurity is important and are aware of the threats surrounding use of the internet, but do not put these realizations to use in practice. The paper concludes by noting that having heard of the dangers of the internet does not mean that the user is “familiar or aware” of said threats, and recommends that internet security be integrated into the university’s curriculum.
