The Economics of Cybersecurity

Abstract:

As cyberattacks become much more sophisticated and vicious, it has become apparent that to best fend against them, governments need to financial resources to combat this. In a sense this creates an optimization problem where it is ideal to maximize security to save losses but there is a budget that is in place to do so. When considering the connection between cybersecurity and economics, it is important to speak about things in relation to the underground economy, economic impact of cyber attacks, and the leadership that goes into this.
