Andres Freund is a software engineer at Microsoft. He was doing maintenance and found a hidden backdoor in the Linux system used. Linux is an open souce software that much of the servers in the world use and run on. Linux itself gets updated however there are bugs and Freund looked and noticed malicious code. Notably Freund noticed that the SSH system which is used to get onto the computer remotely was being over worked. After all the evidence of the malicious code that was planted experts say that had the backdoor not been found it could have lead to a master key so that the hacker could get into millions of computers all over the world.
