Data ownership will be the technological battle of 2025

Abstract:

Data collected and accumulated at various points of society become truly valuable only when their ownership is genuinely identified. Therefore, private equity funds with plenty of financing capacity are looking for promising businesses that can generate revenue from their own data assets and properly deal with sensitive challenges such as privacy and security. As data ownership becomes more ambiguous due to the complex AI value chains, some companies have already started taking different AI strategies, focusing on SLMs (Small Language Models) specialized in a particular field based only on their assets. In this context, the cybersecurity of such datasets is considered a critical factor in maintaining competitiveness. Although the regulation landscape seems unclear yet, companies are expected to move forward by auditing data assets, tracing data origins, and so on.
