Cybersecurity in water

Abstract:

Water systems are how we get drinking water, sanitation, irrigation, and power generation. These systems have become very complex and technologically integrated. They have sensors and controls systems. They too are vulnerable to cyber attacks and they ofter operate in remote locations making it hard to make sure they are secure and keep a monitor on them. They depend on remote monitoring and diverse data networks, hardware and software. Often times hackers will do denial of service attacks in order to disrupt operations and get sensitive data. It was seen that these attacks have escalated however there are not many cybersecurity programs happening to make sure safety and reliability of water systems.
