The Cybersecurity Threat From Russia

Abstract:

The Council on Foreign Relations held a symposium to cover Cybersecurity topics. They covered a wide range of issues including “information operations, content moderation, U.S.-China tech competition and cybersecurity and cyber conflict.” A key example that was discussed was Microsoft Exchange. Microsoft Exchange has many vulnerabilities and has been targeted since its creation. Ways to combat these problems are patches. The difficulty is that not all users know how to use patches and protect themself. There is an “us” and “them” aspect in cybersecurity with many different power levels and it is difficult because many times there is a combination of hardware and software. There is also discussion on Russian affects on US voting and Chinese intellectual theft .
