This page, published by the SANS Institute, which focuses on cybersecurity awareness, discusses their “Cybersecurity Awareness Month (CAM) Toolkit”, which contains a multitude of resources such as tips and presentations to aid companies in bringing awareness about cyber attacks and security to their employees. This is necessary, considering that a lot of cyberattacks on companies occur through employees who fall for phishing emails or malware, which can be avoided through awareness and training in these issues. Some of the topics covered in this toolkit are how to spot social engineering, which is when attackers try to fool their victims or ensuring measures for strong passwords, such as “password complexity”, Two-Factor Authentication, and “unique passwords for all accounts”. Having a month dedicated to Cybersecurity and more organizations involved in spreading the idea of awareness and small things people can do to prevent cyberattacks, is especially apt in the cyber era that we live in today.
