Cyber Security without Cyber War

Abstract:

The ability to achieve security on the Internet remains a heavily contested and unanswered debate. While the United States remains heavily in control of some facets of Internet custom that heavily favor military applications, cyberspace remains a global domain where domestic law and military force do not apply as linearly as they do in physical domains. This misapplication of law and military force has lead to an escalation in military involvement that has made the internet less secure, and future cyber security concerns should consider cyber disarmament and peaceful protection of the Internet.
