The Cyber Events Database, which compiles publicly available data on cyber events from 2014 to the present, is constructed by the Cybersecurity Policy and Research Institute (CISSM) at University of Maryland. As cybersecurity threats become more sophisticated and frequent, both public and private sectors are grappling with how to effectively prevent and respond to cyber attacks. However, a major challenge that they face is a lack of basic tools and information to make informed and strategic decisions. It is difficult to invest scarce resources in cybersecurity measures without a comprehensive understanding of the most common types of cyber threats in a specific industry or critical infrastructure sector, as well as their potential impact. Therefore, this Cyber Events Database is a valuable resource for those who need to make informed decisions about cybersecurity strategies. The wealth of information can also be used to inform investment decisions, risk assessments, and the development of incident response plans.
