Ironically, it is becoming increasingly known by cybersecurity professionals that the best way to counteract cyberattacks is, well, using data itself. Unfortunately, most current data management systems aren’t as effective as they could be at providing security professionals with the best information that they can use to combat cyber threats. However, Big Data Analytics is a way to confront this issue. After having conducted studies on several companies, this paper found that most organizations that apply(figured exact statistics weren’t relevant since we are paraphrasing) Big Data Analytics to their information systems resulted in improvements in cyber threat detection, cyber threat response time, and overall security. Researchers can then with reasonable accuracy say that this study showed that IT departments should be utilizing Big Data analytics in order to more effectively deploy anti-cyber attack resources and protect their most valued assets.
