A house hearing preceding the 2024 general elections. The hearing’s primary goal was to assess the resiliency of the United States electoral system against attempts to compromise its integrity. As a result, many topics pertaining to cybersecurity were discussed, including but not limited to: media misinformation, artificial intelligence, and network segmentation. This text serves as both an indicator of the highly variable risk assessments given by policymakers, and as a snapshot of what technologies were at the forefront of discussion. In a confluence of policy discussion and assessment of the election system state, this discussion occurs at a critical time where the average American’s faith in the electoral system is wavering.
