AI In Cybersecurity: Looking Beyond The SOC

Abstract:

AI is transforming cybersecurity, but its impact extends far beyond Security Operations Centers (SOCs). This article explores how AI-driven automation is redefining cybersecurity strategies, shifting from traditional reactive approaches to more proactive, predictive defense mechanisms. By analyzing vast amounts of data in real time, machine learning models can detect anomalies, identify emerging threats, and adapt faster than conventional security measures. However, while AI enhances threat detection and incident response, it also raises ethical and governance challenges, such as bias in AI decision-making and the risk of adversarial AI being weaponized against security systems. As organizations increasingly rely on AI for cybersecurity, the conversation must expand beyond just technology—to consider policy, ethics, and long-term security resilience in an AI-driven world.
