The 3 Cybersecurity Rules of Trust

Abstract:

There are three main rules that define how we should trust on the internet. First, we should be generally untrusting and decrease our “attack area”. Important information should not go to the web and in some cases shouldn’t even stay on your computer (instead it can be on a drive that stays disconnected or on paper). Next, we should use evidence and experience to determine if a source is trustworthy. Is this site known to be shady? Have I been scammed by this method before? Lastly, we should distrust proportionally to risk. The more we stand to lose, the less we should trust a source.
