Looking at the numbers mentioned in this article, gives an idea of the scale of data that companies deal with nowadays, its economical importance and the impact that these attacks have on different companies/customers. What’s interesting is that some companies where affected by similar type of attacks. One would think that if a company hears about a hack on another company, would build up better defences so it doesn’t get affected the same way and yet we don’t see that in practice.
