This article discusses the vulnerability of Latin America in regards to cyberattacks. In the field of cybersecurity, Latin America is often overlooked since it is a smaller market, cybersecurity tends to focus on established actors, and there is much disparity in the development of countries in the region. Latin American countries often face the same threats as larger countries, but their governments are ill-prepared to face these threats. The article looks at ways that the cybersecurity in the region can be increased. These recommendations look at ways the political priority of cybersecurity in Latin America can be increased and how regional and international cooperation can be fostered.
