In the article Building a Regional, Right of Boom Cyber Defense Network, Graham Kennis and Lauren Zabierek argue for more focus to be put on regional cyber security. The private sector often struggles to contribute to cyber defense, such most of the focus is at the national level, whereas if there were many regional offices small players in the private sector could contribute to cybersecurity in a meaningful way. These regional offices would do a much better job both “left of boom” aka pre attack, and “right of boom” aka post attack. The regional offices could mount a more specific response for the area they cover. The expanded governmental regional network would allow more trust and collaboration between the public and private sector to benefit both.
