Biometric Security Technology

Abstract:

This research paper discusses biometric security technology. It explores the differences in other authentication methods including handheld tokens, knowledge based, and biometrics and compares the advantages and drawbacks. There are many advantages of biometric security such as the universality, distinctiveness, permanence, collectability, acceptability, performance, and circumvention. The two overarching biometric traits can be broken into physiological biometrics, and behavioral biometrics. physiological biometrics include measurements from the human body such as iris, face, fingerprint. Behavioral biometrics include measurements derived from the user such as gait, key stroking, and gestures. This apporach to security is great for identification and verification.
