Cybersecurity Risks in a Pandemic

Abstract:

This paper discusses how pandemics can create opportunities for cybercriminals. Why cyberattacks have become more frequent during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as how medical practices can protect patient data is at the forefront of the discussion as well as the consequences of loosening the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. Finally, the paper discusses best practices for companies to prepare for the next wave of cyberattacks during the next health crisis.
