Collaboration between the public and private sectors is necessary to formulate and adapt policy responses to the evolving threat landscape of the Internet and cyber age. One of the central challenges of this assessment, however, is how ambiguous it is- how exactly do we put into place this cooperation between government and industry? By studying the evolution of collaborative programs and their beneficial effects on improving cybersecurity, this article highlights best practices, such as communicating with stakeholders in the early stages of collaboration projects, maintaining these contacts throughout the partnership, and ensuring senior leaders are committed to the joint effort, that provide solutions to problems in the industry-government partnership.
