An ‘Increase in Clarity’ in US Cyber Strategy

Abstract:

At a conference on cyber engagement, the head of Cyber Commands Mission Force discussed the role of the Department of Defense in cyberspace. He outline the military’s stance as not just focused on the military but an important teammate to industry in the fight against bad actors. He also highlighted the United State’s new defend forward model which means actively seeking out adversary activity and harassing them in their networks to learn about them. As an example of this preemptive mind set the article brings up report that US Cyber Command shutdown a Russian hacker farm on the day of the midterm election to prevent any interference. The article covered the DoD’s position and relationships in the cyber realm.
