Geopolitics and the Digital Domain: How Cyberspace is Impacting International Security

Abstract:

This paper discusses the digital domain as an emerging environment in which internet and data connectivity exists which presents challenges for traditional geopolitics and creates international relations challenges. Using cyberweapons through direct cyberattacks can threaten the international threat landscape. States as they stand currently are not prepared to meet the challenges that come from these increasing threats. This paper uses primary and secondary sources to study cyber warfare and how to secure nations against threats in the digital domain. This paper also studies how developing and developed countries react differently to technological advances.
