Cyberwarfare: the New Frontier of Wars Between Countries

Abstract:

The growing trend of cyberwarfare events leave concern for the security of the internet. Cyberwarfare can be described as when a country, state, hacker, or terrorist group uses cyber-attacks on another, usually targeting computer-controlled systems to cause damage to infrastructure or further a motive. In the battle for cybersecurity, it becomes increasingly difficult to combat hackers due to the speed of attack, the innovation of viruses and malware, and the lack of attribution. The escalation of threats and faulty defense can lead into cyberwarfare on a state or national level. In order to secure their infrastructure governments adopt strategies to increase awareness, and promote a trusted and open system. With more knowledge and strategies, better policies on strengthening cybersecurity can be made.
