The internet has the potential to be used as another form of warfare. Russia has been utilizing cyberattacks as a tool for monetary, military and political gain. Ukraine has been a target of these attacks since 2014. This has caused negative impacts on Ukraine’s political stability and infrastructure, as the attacks have impacted banks, energy systems, and the government. Due to the global collaboration abilities of the Internet, Ukraine’s defenses against these Russian cyberattacks are helped by the United States. More protective techniques are needed to help countries like Ukraine to protect themselves as well as recover after a cyberattack.
