Honeypots and honeynets: issues of privacy

Abstract:

While they come with a medley of legal, technical, and otherwise operational concerns, honeypots and honeynets are some very useful tools for network security and forensics. Specifically, there are concerns over privacy regarding this technology. This paper addresses all of these issues and extends them to include honeypot and honeynet application to data processing . Additionally, this paper considered EU law, IP address law, and other relevant information in order to fully dissect their privacy holdups.
