Blockchain’s roles in strengthening cybersecurity and protecting privacy

Abstract:

Following the discussion of third party involvement in the detriment or improvement of cybersecurity, this paper discusses how blockchains (which are considered third parties) can strengthen cybersecurity as well as aid in the protection of privacy. Many blockchains operate through cloud data centers where much of current data is stored. “ Using practical applications and real-world examples, the paper argues that blockchain’s decentralized feature is likely to result in a low susceptibility to manipulation and forgery by malicious participants. Special consideration is also given to how blockchain-based identity and access management systems can address some of the key challenges associated with IoT security.” Blockchain can actually contain a security breach within IoT through public policies and supply chains.
