AT&T says leaked data of 70 million people is not from its systems

Abstract:

This article investigates a concerning data leak impacting 70 million individuals. The leaked data contains information belonging to AT&T customers, but the company denies any breach on their systems. Hackers, however, claim the data originates from a 2021 incident. The leak includes verified entries and was initially offered for sale on a hacking forum known as RaidForums by the group ShinyHunters. The price for the data started at $200,000 with a possibility of reaching $1 million. Additionally, another threat actor, MajorNelson, recently leaked the same information for free. Despite these leaks, no data for individuals confirmed as AT&T customers before 2021 has been identified. These leaks and AT&T’s denial makes the true source of the leaked data as a mystery.
